The Home Pleasure Party Plan Association hosted its first-ever “Kink & Bondage Lab,” sponsored by Doc Johnson, last night during the International Lingerie Show.

The event featured a BDSM costume contest with prizes and demos from participating vendors, Sportsheets and XR Brands, as well as a Japanese rope bondage demonstration by HPPPA’s own Toni Hunt, owner of Sacramento-based Erotasies home parties.

Hunt told XBIZ that she became interested in rope bondage through a swingers’ lifestyle event and was attracted to the beauty of the knots. During the Kink & Bondage Lab, she treated her primarily female audience to a full-body knot technique that could be used to restrain a partner and even suspend them if they happen to be in a dungeon with hanging hooks.

The lively interactive event featured simultaneously held product demos from Sportsheets and XR Brands. According to HPPPA President Tamara Payton Bell, the nighttime event followed a full day of in-suite demos from an array of vendors. She told XBIZ that the sessions welcomed over 50 attendees throughout the day.

“It helps them to understand another side of the business,” Bell said. “They’re familiar with the toys but this event introduces them to the kink and bondage lifestyle.”

Sportsheets took over the suite’s bedroom for a demonstration of its Under the Bed Restraint System, Doggy Style Strap, crops and more.

“Sportsheets really supports home parties, it’s a very vibrant market segment,” Sportsheets’ Cheri Poe said. “Home parties offer an opportunity to give people one-on-one coaching, it’s sex positive and invites people to add spice to intimacy. This event also gets us good input from the HPPPA, and we get the opportunity to answer all of their questions.”

Bell said that after being invited to host a home party inside of a dungeon, she was exposed to electro stimulation, which inspired her to introduce the fetish to the HPPPA.

XR Brands’ Rebecca Weinberg demonstrated the Zeus Electrosex Twilight Wand with its attachments and accessories, including the body plate attachment that turns users into human conductors.

“I thought it’d be a good idea to invite XR Brands to teach us about their electro-stimulation products at our event,” Bell said, and indeed the electro-stimulation portion of the product demos was among the event’s highlights as guests were both literally and figuratively shocked by the functionality of XR Brands’ Zeus Electrosex Twilight Wand.

Doc Johnson Enterprise:
Doc Johnson was born in 1976 when Ron Braverman purchased a very small company that sold adult toys along with gag novelties and rubber fishing items. When he realized that adult toys had a huge demographic without any real central supplier, he renamed the company Doc Johnson and worked towards becoming America’s most imminent producer of adult products. Since then, the Doc Johnson brand has grown and evolved. We started with a handful of employees, and now have a team of over 500 people in our factory in North Hollywood, California. The adult novelty industry has grown and evolved, but one theme that has remained constant at Doc Johnson is our strong commitment to American manufacturing. Today, we are the largest adult toy manufacturing company in the world with a facility that has six buildings that cater to every department from conception to shipping—and not only do we produce the majority of our products in America, but we also strive to create the most high-quality, innovative, and body friendly products on the market.
